Nokia has announced its 6720 classic candybar cellphone, building on the company's classic heritage, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Two variants of the 6720 will be released. Both feature quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support. One variant features tri-band UMTS (900/1900/2100MHz) support and the other replaces the 900MHz UMTS band with 850MHz UMTS support. Both feature HSDPA connectivity for high-speed downloads.
Meant for users who want a great voice experience, the Nokia 6720 classic improves call quality with noise reduction technology and features up to 20 days of standby time. The 6720 also features navigation technology that utilizes an onboard aGPS for turn-by-turn navigation, and an electronic compass is built into the phone.
Pictures and video taken with the 6720's 5 megapixel camera with autofocus can be saved on an included 1GB microSD card. Later, photos can be displayed on televisions with the phone's TV-out connection. The Nokia 6720 classic is expected to ship in the second quarter with a estimated retail price of 245 EUR (US$313).
