Nokia announced the Nokia 6710 Navigator this morning at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. With its slightly curved shape and attractive design, the 6710 Navigator has quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support and tri-band UMTS (900/1900/2100MHz) support with HSDPA and WiFi for high-speed data connectivity.
With all the benefits of a dedicated GPS device and converged mobile device, the Nokia 6710 Navigator includes the most up-to-date developments in Nokia Maps software, with drive and walk navigation, full regional maps and a dedicated navigation key and a touch area for easy zooming.
A large, 2.6" QVGA (320x240 pixels) display is designed for outdoor viewing to compliment the device's updated Nokia Maps. The new version includes high-resolution aerial imagery, 3D landmarks, terrain maps, weather service, event content, and traffic and safety warnings. The device is integrated with Ovi so users can plan their journeys ahead of time. The Nokia 6710 Navigator also includes a compass and a much improved pedestrian experience. A 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual-LED flash is also onboard, along with a microSD slot for expanded storage.
A car cradle is included in-box, and an optional speakerphone is available for purchase for high-quality, hands-free use with echo cancellation and noise reduction. The Nokia 6710 Navigator is expected to ship in the third quarter 2009 with an estimated price of 300 EUR (US$383), before tax and subsidies.
